Ski area Grandvalira

Just 30 km away from Sant Julià de Lòria lies the municipality of Canillo. From here, winter sports enthusiasts can take the gondola to the Grandvalira ski area, which has a lot to offer winter sports fans: the ski area is located across altitudes between 1,710 m and 2,640 m in the Pyrenees between France and Spain and is popular for its high snow reliability and the many hours of sunshine, among other things. With the Grandvalira ski pass, snow lovers have a total of 210 km of pistes at their disposal, which are accessible via a total of 71 lifts. The gigantic Grandvalira ski resort was created by the merger of the Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig and Soldeu/El Tarter ski resorts and is the largest ski resort in Europe outside of the Alps.

Whether beginner or professional, single or family: in this varied ski area, winter sports enthusiasts of all interests and skill levels will find what they are looking for. Beginners and children can look forward to a total of 100 kilometres of blue pistes. The well-prepared slopes are perfect for learning the basics of skiing or snowboarding. In the numerous children's centres and the local ski schools, younger winter sports enthusiasts can learn to ski while playing and having fun. Of course, adult beginners are also welcome in the ski lessons.

Experienced skiers and snowboarders can let off steam on the 77 red and 33 black kilometres of slopes. There are also numerous popular freeride routes as well as boardercross and FIS race tracks. Freestylers can look forward to three snow parks, including the only night park in Andorra. Since February 2019, you can also use your Grandvalira lift pass in the Ordino Acalís ski area, with 30 further kilometres of piste and 15 lifts.

Grandvalira also regularly hosts major winter sports competitions such as the finale of the FIS 2019 Alpine Ski World Cup on the famous "Avet" piste, where the 25 best skiers compete for overall World Cup victory.

Night skiing Grandvalira

In Europe's largest ski resort outside the Alps, snow lovers have the opportunity to make tracks in the snow even at a late hour. When it gets dark, individual pistes are illuminated with floodlights. There is a night ski slope in Le Peretol (1,960 m). The slope is located directly at the Peretol T-bar lift and is approx. 500 m long. The Henrik Harlaut snow park is also located here and is completely floodlit in the evening. The large freestyle area is easily accessible via the valley road, but is not directly connected to the other slopes of the Grandvalira ski area.

In Pas de la Casa, winter holidaymakers can look forward to the 1.5 km long "Tubs" piste, which is regularly illuminated for night skiing. The downhill run is located directly at the 4-person chairlift "La Solana" and is marked in blue, so that young and old are guaranteed to get their money's worth.

Après ski Grandvalira

After a day on the slopes, Sant Julià de Lòria has a lot to offer, especially for those interested in culture: how about a visit to the tobacco museum or to one of the numerous Roman architectural monuments? Those who are looking for something a little more lively should head to the nearby Andorra La Vella, or just stay there in the evening after the last run. Here, there's umbrella bars and numerous clubs in which you can let the evening come to an end after a day of skiing with an après ski party.

In addition, the ski area Grandvalira offers activities such as dog sledding, snow shoe hikes or snowbike tours, for those who just can't get enough of the snow.

Snowpark Grandvalira: Snowpark El Tarter

Freestylers can be excited, since the ski area Grandvalira is a true freestyle paradise. There are three fun parks in total - including the only night park in Andorra and even a Freestyle Academy. Illuminated by floodlights presenting the latest tricks, definitely has a very special charm.

Sunset Park Henrik Harlaut is open from Tuesday to Sunday evening. Three lines with kickers, rails and a bag jump await daring freestylers.

In the SnowPark Xavi in Grau Roig there are jumps as well as some obstacles for beginners and advanced riders. Additionally, the park has its own chairlift.

Adrenalin junkies should definitely check out the Snowpark El Tarter. Here you can find kickers in different sizes and different obstacles. The experienced aerial acrobats can rock the huge kickers of the pro line here, while the beginners among the freestylers learn how to slide on boxes or the first jumps on the small kicker lines. The park crew of Coliflor Freestyle also runs the daily open Freestyle Academy, where skiers and snowboarders can learn from the pros.
