Ski area Schneebären Card

The "Schneebärenland Card" lift pass covers 5 ski areas (Tauplitz, Kaiserau, Planneralm, Loser and Riesneralm) and 128 km of piste. The largest of the 4 areas is the Tauplitz area, located between 896 and 1,965 m altitude. 17 lifts, of which one is the cable car Mitterstein, as well as 43 km of prepared pistes with excellent snow conditions will entice every winter sports fan. Thanks to the convenient geographical location, the Tauplitz is one of the best regions in Austria with reliability for snow. Snow levels of up to 5 m have already been registered here.

Additionally, thanks to modern snow-making facilities, care-free winter sports fun can be enjoyed from December to April. Vast pistes and a great freeride area offer diversity and enough space to not feel overrun by the masses. In Bad Mitterndorf there is a free ski bus which runs directly to the toll station of the Tuplitz Alpine road. From there a regular bus connection (free when presenting the lift pass) runs to the valley station of the gondola Mitterstein. The ride takes only 8 minutes.

Après ski Bad Mitterndorf

Après ski is more a quiet and relaxed affair in Bad Mitterndorf. No loud partying after the lifts have closed. However, there is natural toboggan run at the Knoppenberg in Pichl, which is a fun afternoon entertainment to try. In the evenings, there is also night tobogganing on an illuminated run in Tauplitz. There, you will also find an umbrella bar for a more sociable end to the skiing day. In Bad Mitterndorf itself, the leisure time highlight is the Grimming-Therme (thermal pool complex), which is perfect for relaxing after skiing, or finding other sporty alternative activities. A large ice rink is also open in the evenings for skating and curling, located in the resort area Zauchen.

If you would like some more action, there is a hiking trail to the Kulmkogel (1,123 m), where the Kulm, the world's largest natural ski jump, can be found. A moonshine snowshoe hike or a horse-drawn carriage ride provide for some romance. A regular horse-drawn carriage service runs between Bad Mitterndorf and Oberstdorf. If the weather is not so well suited for outdoor activities, there is also a sports arcade where you can enjoy some tennis, squash or try yourself on a boulder wall.

Snowpark: SnowValley Snowpark Bad Mitterndorf

Tauplitz itself does not offer a funpark, however the Planneralm, which is also included in the "Schneebärenland" lift pass union, has the "SnowValley" to offer. The park was opened in 2000 and has turned into a fixed asset for the local freestyle scene. At not for nothing! All levels of skill will find a suitable practise area here, from beginner to pro, from freestlye skier to snowboarder. There are three separate areas: one for beginners, a medium and an advanced area.

Various kickers, boxes, rails and tubes are available to try. Especially popular is the funcross line with steep curve and wave ride. The park has also already been venue for a number of contests.
