Ski area Hochkar

With the included combination lift pass "Hochkar - Ötscher" you have access to a total of 38 kilometres of pistes with 17 lifts in the ski areas Hochkar and Lackenhof Ötscher. The connection with the ski bus makes it easy for skiers and snowboarders to change ski areas. Winter sports enthusiasts will find best prepared pistes with excellent training conditions in this snow-sure area around Göstling (for worst case scenarios, snow cannons cover over 75% of the pistes). This region is also called the Weltcupfahrer-Schmiede (the Blacksmith of World Cup racers) as not only world champion Kathrin Zettel and Thomas Sykora, but also Andreas Buder come from Göstling. At altitudes between 1,380 m and 1,800 m, you will not only find easy family pistes as well as mogul pistes, but also quite demanding pistes such as the black "Thomas-Sykora" piste.

The ski area Hochkar is the only one in Lower Austria that has been awarded with the quality certification "Welcome Beginners!" by the "Fachverbands der Seilbahnen" (professional association of cable cars). Children and beginners are in good hands at the local ski school. The little ones love to romp around in the "Kidsland am Zagerlboden" (children's area), where two magic carpets and an adventure route are available. But even those who like it more demanding will find suitable areas here: on the deep powder snow mountainsides off piste or on ski tours, for example up to Dürrenstein or in the Hochkar fun park. Additionally, the gastronomy in the ski area scores with its diversity and offers everything from the rustic ski hut to the classic self-service restaurant as well as an après ski temple.

Après ski Hochkar

Après ski fans are drawn to the "JoSchi Bar" or the "Latsch'n Alm" after their last run. Additionally, for those who like do not want to stop, the town offers a few more places to go to: the "Fuchsbau", the "Hoizhitt'n Bar" or the club "Lett'n".

Those who prefer to be active in nature can use one of the 50 km long cleared winter hiking trails. Another option would be to explore the region with snowshoes or on a horse-drawn sleigh. For those who prefer their leisure activities a bit faster, the 1 km-long natural toboggan run or ice skating in the village square offers just that. In the Ybbstal salt water bath, relaxation and water fun are put the foreground. Guests will also find a sauna world with a salt water steam grotto, as well as a fitness and therapy centre.

Snowpark Hochkar: Snowpark Hochkar

The Hochkar ski area has been known for its various opportunities for backcountry kickers for a while now. Additionally, the Hochkar fun park has a lot more to offer than just simple jumps. Snowboarders and freeskiers can go wild on boxes, kickers, a jibcan and in the quarter-pipe. In addition, freestylers will also appreciate the Lackenhof Ötscher ski area with the Ötscher snowpark.
