Ski area Salzburger Sportwelt
The Salzburger Sportwelt alone already offers 250 km of piste and 97 lift systems. The vast lift connections Kleinarl/Flachauwinkl/Zauchensee and Flachau/Wagrain/St. Johann are the top destinations within the lift pass union and have come to fame due to such events as e.g. the Alpine Ski World Cup in Flachau itself. The "Ski amadé" unites the smaller regions of Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Hochkönig, Gastein and Großarl to this mega region, covering a vast amount of peaks and hills.
Additionally, approx. 400 Wi-Fi hotspots are available in the entire ski area, mountain huts and lift stations. Like this you can send your friends at home the newest pictures and greetings from the snow.
For all those who prefer quick connections and manageable ski areas, the smaller, but diverse ski area Werfenweng is only approx. 20 minutes from Hüttau by car. A total of 9 lifts and 29 km of well-prepared pistes of all levels of difficulty provide great entertainment for both beginners and pros alike. Families will also feel welcome here. The highlight is a 6 km long panorama descent, which covers approx. 800 m difference in altitude and challenges its riders in many ways.
Après ski Hüttau
Hüttau, just like the rest of the region, is well-known for ore mining since the 14th century. Respectively, the resort name Hüttau is derived from the many mining huts at the Weyeranger between Hüttau and Niedernfritz, where the ore was processed after mining. Today, guests can visit the old mine "Kupferzeche Hüttau" which is a show mine and museum, displaying the situation of the miners during the centuries.
Snowpark: Absolut Snowpark Hüttau
In the Salzburger Sportwelt, on the Shuttleberg at Flachauwink, a special freestyle highlight awaits you. The "Absolute Park" offers all adrenaline junkies, beginner and pro alike, perfect possibilities to burn off steam. Get started on the 5-set kicker line, with starts directly at the 6-person "Asolute Shuttle", the park-own chair lift. This line proves its class by hosting the "Spring Battle", Austria's most popular on-mountain snowboard contest. Directly next to the kicker line, there is a rail line. Riders can test their skills on kinked rails, rainbow rails, hand rails, various boxes, down rails and a double kinked rail. Finally, the Easy Jibpark, which is set up in the style of a skater park, demands creativity and spontaneity.
If you think that the already extensive obstacle selection is all the park has to offer, then look twice! The "Absolute Park" offers not only a 100 m long half-pipe with 4 m high walls, but even has a massive super-pipe. This 160 m long monster is located just above the valley station of the "Family Shuttle" and complies to the X-Games and Olympic norms. Further, the park offers a "Chill House". This is the best place to be for all freestyle fans after a day in the snowpark. Here you can enjoy some juicy beats, video walls, and lots of space to relax. But not only that: there is even a mini skate and a massive boulder rock!
Additionally, a further titbit can be found on the Shuttleberg where Burton and the Absolute Park have come together and didn't let it get past them to design the concept of "The Stash" in Flachauwinkl. This park is really special, as it demands creativity on slightly hidden obstacles, which blend into the landscape. The funny and mostly easy obstacles can be overcome in various ways. Further, at the drop-off point of the "Powder Shuttle" there is the "Lil' Stash" park, specially designed for the little ones who want to test their creativity.
