Ski vacations Jungholz - Tyrolean pearl in the Allgäu!
Jungholz
Jungholz is located directly on the border with Germany and is almost completely surrounded by the Allgäu, i.e. German territory. Although the quiet village lies on Tyrolean soil and belongs to Austria, it can only be reached via the German Allgäu. Only the foothills of the Sorgschrofen (1,635 m) form a land connection to Tyrol. Jungholz therefore has the special status of a Tyrolean enclave in the Allgäu.The village with around 300 inhabitants is not only special due to its geographical location. It is also the only Tyrolean Alpine herb village where numerous wild, tea and aromatic herbs are grown. The large herb garden in the village centre is covered in a thick blanket of snow in winter, as is the pretty "Maria Namen" parish church, but the village has much more to offer in the winter months than a rich variety of flora and traditional buildings. Jungholz is surrounded by an idyllic holiday region with relaxed leisure activities ranging from skiing and cross-country skiing to winter hiking.
Tannheim Valley
The Tannheimer Tal is an approximately 20 km long high valley in the Allgäu Alps, which lies at around 1,100 metres above sea level. It is surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Vilsalpsee mountains and the Tannheimer Gruppe. In winter, they provide the perfect backdrop for a variety of winter sports in the snow-white Alpine landscape. Starting at the Oberjoch Pass in Bavaria, the valley is accessible via the Tannheimer Straße, which runs through the five communities of Schattwald, Zöblen, Tannheim, Grän, via Haldensee and Nesselwängle to Lech. Tannheim is the main town in the valley and is centrally located, making it the perfect starting point for all the leisure activities on offer. There are, for example, the ski areas that are easily accessible from the villages, 140 km of cross-country ski trails, 70 km of winter hiking trails and excursion destinations worth seeing, such as the traffic-calmed Vilsalpsee nature reserve.Travel Jungholz
