Ski area Lermoos/Grubigstein

With the "Top Snow Card" lift pass you have access to 10 ski areas with a total of 205 km of piste and 89 lifts, including among others Garmisch-Patenkirchen on the German side of the boarder and Lermoos, Ehrwald and Mittenwald in Austria (see ski region).

The local ski area of Leermoos is located at the Grubigstein, between 1,004 and 2,100 m altitude. A total of approx. 27 km of piste (incl. 2 km of ski routes) of mostly intermediate difficulty, 8 lifts, various panorama view points and some cosy Alpine huts promise a varied selection of activities for all ages. With the Hochmoos-Express you are transported easily up to the middle station of the Brettlalm, and from there you continue with the modern 10-person cabin lift Grubig II up to the Grubig hut at 2,050 m altitude. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view across the Alps to the Zugspitze and the Wetterstein Massif. The longest descent takes you over 8 km and 1,114 m altitude from the Grubigstein right down back into the valley. There are several black runs and one ski route over approx. 2 km length, which run past the Wolfratshauser hut. Further, once per week skiing is possible until 21:00 in the evening. From the beginning of January until the beginning of April, every Wednesday, the floodlights are switched on for nights skiing on the 500 m long piste at the Familyjet.

The attractive ski area of Leermoos is not the only highlight here. There is more to discover: for instance the weekly ski show, in which the ski school pros demonstrate what is possible on skis and snowboard. The show includes some impressive jumps through burning loops! Or you can take a ride on a snow cat - make this dream come true in Leermoos. After the lifts close around 16:00 in the afternoon, anybody interested in a ride, can climb into the cockpit (payable locally) and get some inside information about how to prepare pistes. Once per week, there is further the possibility to take part in a torch ride (piste descent) from 17:00 in the afternoon. If you want to the first on the piste in the morning, you can take the "First Track" lift once per week, which leaves already at 07:30 in the morning. Once you have left your marks on the fresh snow, you can enjoy a good hearty breakfast! One thing is clear: the Grubigstein leaves nobody bored!

Après ski Lermoos

Leermoos has a lot to offer away from pistes - from party to relaxation - there is something for everyone. In the umbrella bar at the Grubigalm, at 1,720 m, the atmosphere heats up around early afternoon. With "Lahme Ente", Leermoos has one the best après ski bars of the region! It is located at the valley station of the Grubig lift, where underneath the "Entenschirm" the party really gets going in the afternoons. The "Ente" has live DJs who play the best party music until way into the morning hours. Those looking for a quieter version of après ski, will also find sufficient entertainment. The longest natural toboggan run of the Zugspitz Arena is located directly at the ski area Grubigstein. It runs over 3.5 km from the middle to the valley station. On the ice rink, not far from the lift station, you can practice your pirouettes, or you can take part in a guided torch hike in the evenings and get to know the mystic Leermoos after dark. The evening can come to a cosy end in one of the cafés or pubs with some sociable drinks.

In neighbouring Ehrwald, approx. 4 km from Leermoos, there are regular night-ice skating events and curling on offer. The Familienbad Tiroler Zugspitz Arena (public pool complex) provides for some family entertainment in the pools. Further, Ehrwald is opening a new Schnapps distillery, and those interested in the process can book a tour and enjoy a tasting.

Snowpark: Snowboard Freeride-Park Lermoos

Just below the Gamsjet chair lift lies a snowpark which has specialised in snowboard freestylers. It represents a fun area in powder snow, which natural snow drifts as kickers. A fully-grown snowpark with rails, boxes and some shapes kickers for all freestylers can be found in close proximity in the ski areas of Ehrwald and Berwang.
