Lienz
Lienz (673 m) has 12,000 inhabitants and lies directly south of the impressive mountain range of the Lienz Dolomites. This remarkable town looks back on a long, moving history. Besides a stroll through the medieval town centre, an exploration of multiple cultural sights is recommendable. You could, for example, visit either the St. Michael church (14th century), the St. Andrä church (15th century), or the Franciscan church. The Castle Bruck from the 13th century, which has been constructed on a knoll, is also worth seeing. The town also attracts with multiple shopping facilities and a great variety of restaurants and cafés. Last but not least, there are many recreational facilities to enjoy after a long day of skiing like clubs, bars, and cinemas.Lienz Dolomites
Actually, the Lienz Dolomites strictly do not belong to the mountain chain of the Dolomites. However as one part of the massif borders on the Dolomites, these mountains are commonly known as the Lienz Dolomites. In the centre lies the historically significant town of Lienz. The two highest peaks , the "Große Sandspitze" (2,770 m) and the "Spitzkofel" (2,717 m) rise up just south of the town and form an impressive backdrop. The holiday villages in this region are especially popular with families, due to their cosiness. Some natural monuments of the romantic Eastern Tyrol mountains can be discovered here, on one of the many winter hiking trails in this region. The ski areas attract the visitors with well-prepared and diverse pistes to explore, as well as breathtaking panorama views. Diverse leisure time activities promise an unforgettable winter holiday in the mountains!Travel Lienz
