Ski area Ankogel

With the lift pass "Ski Hit", you have access to 186 km of wonderful pistes and ski routes in East Tyrol's nine ski areas (see ski region).

The charming village of Mallnitz, at the foot of the Ankogel, is a well-kept secret for families. In the large ski surface at the Köfel lifts in the valley, even beginners will quickly get the hang of the curves. The youngsters can count on Pinguin Bobo and his ski school to learn the basics. The local mountain Ankogel (1,280 - 2,636 m) is high on the list of favourite ski areas in Austria, with around 12.8 km of pistes and enchanting descents. Above all, the wide, free peak pistes with marvellous views all the way to the Grossglockner and the Dolomites, as well as the 7 km-long valley descent toward Mallnitz with 1,349 m difference of elevation have real potential to become addictive! It is also Carinthia's longest, snow-secure piste. Ankogel has a legendary reputation between free riders as well.

On the Mölltaler Glacier (2,108 m - 3,122 m), many beginners from the Ski and Board Academy have their first ride. With its about 17.5 km of pistes, ''Mölli'' is there to be enjoyed by all types of skiers and boarders. A total of 9 modern lifts, including the underground Mölltal-Express, will take you comfortably to the glacier at Schareck. The tree-free Cinemascope pistes lure in swarms of carvers. If you really want to feel the burn, take the 7 km-long, highest altitude FIS run in Carinthia on the Mölltal Glacier. The snowboard fun park with boardercross, jumps, and wave-run, as well as the tree-free peak slopes just below 3,000 m are know as "Möllis Best for Boarders".

Après ski Mallnitz

Après ski is rather more quiet in Mölltal. Still, Carinthian hospitality is a top priority here. Some cosy lodges and snack stations invite the skiers to linger during and after a day on the piste. In the afternoons, ice skating or tobogganing provide an extra portion of fun. The evenings in Mölltal should be enjoyed in one of the numerous restaurants and inns, and later on, if desired, in one of the bars - like the "Sportscafé". Those who like to hit the dance floor should not miss a visit to the disco "Tanzstadl Ankogel".

Away from the pistes, Mallnitz has a lot to offer. You can enjoy ice skating or tobogganing on Carinthia's longest toboggan run. Segway-tours or snowshoe hikes are also very popular. With the national park Hohe Tauern, you will find the largest winter hiking terrain within the Eastern Alps right in front of your door. Relaxation can be found in the "Tauernbad" with activity sauna. In the "Tauernsaal" however, rock climbers will find what the are looking for.

Snowpark: Funpark Mölltaler Gletscher Mallnitz

The ski area of the Mölltal Glacier is especially suitable for freestylers. At altitudes of up to 2,640 m you will find snow-covered slopes and diversified descents, which are just waiting to be marked by your tracks. Higher-than-average amounts of sunny hours and the fun park at the glacier below the Schareck piste, attract boarder pros into the ski area and make it a popular meeting point. A mogul piste, banked turns, kickers, and jumps catapult risk lovers into the sky and let them enjoy the fascinating panorama from above.

Not exciting enough? Then you should have a look at the boardercross run and experience a new and exciting adventure together with the pros in the scene. Calling it a "boarders paradise" is definitely not an exaggeration! Freeriders can also get their money's worth on the deep snow descents, as well as other diverse descents away from the marked pistes.
