Ski area Obertilliach/Golzentipp

The "SkiHit" ski pass gives you the opportunity to get to know eight ski areas: Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei, Brunnalm, Lienzer Dolomiten, Sillian, Obertilliach and Kartitsch in Hochpustertal as well as the Mölltaler Gletscher and Ankogel areas in Carinthia. A total of 190 kilometres of pistes of all levels of difficulty make skiers' and boarders' hearts beat faster (see ski region).

From Maria Luggau it is about 10 km in a westerly direction to the skiing area "Obertilliach/Golzentipp" (1,430 - 2,248 m). Here, about 13 km of piste and 5 lifts await you. The small skiing area is especially popular with families. The two T-bar lifts directly at the village offer the best opportunities for children and beginners who dare to make their first turns. If you still haven't had enough in the evening, you can enjoy night skiing in the evening hours.

Après ski Maria Luggau

After skiing, it is by no means the end of the day for active people. Several walking and hiking trails are groomed by snowcats and make excursions into the surrounding nature particularly pleasant. In the unprepared terrain, the Lesachtal is best explored on snowshoes. With or without a guide, there are various routes through valleys and forests. In the area around Maria Luggau, there is also plenty of tobogganing fun to be had. There is a smaller toboggan slope at the Mühlenstüberl in Obergail and the illuminated toboggan run in the Tuffbad goes 700 m downhill. A longer downhill run of 7 km lies directly in the Golzentipp skiing area in Obertilliach. After a cosy stop at the Connyalm hut, the toboggan run takes you down into the valley to Rals.

Maria Luggau also has a covered and floodlit ice rink for skating and playing ice hockey. Ice skates can be rented free of charge. Curling can also be practised here with "pigeons" or "boards".

After the sporting fun, the culinary pleasure beckons. Lesachtal cuisine combines three cultures (Italy, Slovenia, Austria) and therefore has some special creations to offer. For example, enjoy the typical "Morenden", a mixture of hearty Brettl snacks with local sausages and cheeses as well as warm dishes such as Schlipfkrapfen. Together with the freshly baked bread from the local mill farmers, you will literally taste the originality of this beautiful Alpine valley.

Snowpark: Yellowsnow Park Maria Luggau

The nearest spot for freestylers is the Hochpustertal ski centre, about 30 km away from Maria Luggau. There, on the Thurntaler, there is the Yellowsnow Park with versatile possibilities to try out. At an altitude of 2,130 m and a length of 300 m, boarders can let off steam on kickers, rails, corners and frames in various difficulty levels. There is also an extra jib line. Beginners in particular are in good hands in the park, which also has its own lift and a chill-out area.
