Ski area Hochkönig

With the lift pass "Ski amadé" you will have the possibility to carve down an unbelievable 760 km of piste, just to be taken back up the hill again by one of 270 lifts (see ski region). No winter sports fans will miss out on a thing, thanks to the interconnected ski area offering deep powder slopes, family-friendly pistes and FIS-routes en masse.

However also the ski area around the Hochkönig (impressive 2,941 m) wins skiers over with it's 128 kilometres of well-prepared, wide pistes (incl. ski routes) and a spectacular panoramic view. This area is suitable for children, beginners and experts, as it offers a broad variety of pistes. The majority is made up by moderately difficult routes. A special highlight for all less-experienced winter sports fans is the 9 km long Dachegg-Mühlbach piste, which is easy to handle. The eastern descent from Mühlbach, at 3.5 km length, is known to be the most difficult in the Hochkönig area. Furthermore,in the region of the Hochkönig 3 different snow parks are opened to all the freestylers with various difficulties of rails, boxes and jumps.

With the Königstour, the ski region of Hochkönig also offers a wonderful ski tour - one of the longest in the Alps. The total of 35 kilometres of piste can be explored in a day, and is thereby optimal for family day trips. Since 2012, the Königstour connects the ski areas of Mühlbach and Dienten and Maria Alm. Maria Alm's local mountain is now also connected to the main ski area on the Aberg: Winter sports enthusiasts now have a direct ski-in/ski-out connection from Maria Alm to the Königstour.

Do you want to share your skiing day experiences with family and friends? No problem! In the Hochkönig ski area alone, several Wi-Fi hotspots are available. They offer you uncomplicated and free internet connections in fun parks, lift stations and ski huts. The Kings Cab lift is the first Austrian mountain railways equipped with a Wi-Fi hot spot.

Night skiing Mühlbach am Hochkönig

Night skiing is offered several times a week in Maria Alm. The night skiing area also becomes a "Magic Area" once a week. The ski instructors from the local ski schools then present formation runs, torch runs and much more. The spectacle is accompanied by a light show and music and ends with a big firework display. Admission is free.

Après ski Mühlbach am Hochkönig

After having spent the whole day on the slopes with perfect snow conditions around Hochkönig, by evening it's time to allow yourself some peace and quiet to regain energy for the next day. This can ideally be done with a glass of wine in one of the bars or on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the lovely winter landscape.

Other sports activities include snowshoe hiking, ice skating or tobogganing down a 4 km long hill for instance - these are just a few of the numerous possibilities. The adventurers among the winter tourists can also go treasure hunting in the snow at the Geocaching or learn how to behave right in an alpine area and in the avalanche search field when touring over the "DYNAFIT Touring Base".

Snowpark: Kings Park Snowpark Mühlbach am Hochkönig

The ski area Hochkönig comprises 3 different great snow parks! The most coveted of them is probably the "Kings Park", which is located directly at the mountain station of the 8-person lift "Kings Cab". The set-up is impressive: 9 boxes, 10 butter boxes, 6 jibs, 21 kickers, 5 rails, and 7 tubes don't leave anything to be desired, no matter whether you are a beginner or pro. After a challenging ride, you can relax in the "Kings Cab" gondola while it brings you to the next line.

Mühlbach also has the "Livingroom Snowpark", located at an altitude of 1,500 m at the foot of the Mandlwände mountain, is freshly shaped every day and offers a challenging ride for everyone with its advanced and beginner lines. Furthermore, 2 highlights are awaiting freestylers. The park has mirrors and live cams, as well as a great sound system. That way you can watch yourself do tricks and analyse them on-line afterwards, all while listening to some great tunes.

Maria Alm, with the snow parks "Schönanger" and "Natrun am Simmerlift", is also worth a visit. Offering several small kickers, boxes and wavy runs, the parks are especially suited for beginners and kids.

The whole Ski amadé area comprises 14 snow parks and is therefore an absolute freestyle El Dorado!

Since the 2014/15 ski season, there has also been a fun slope at Aberg. The absolute highlight of the 850 m long track with tunnels, wave curves, small jumps and mascots is the giant snow snail with a 30 m diameter.
