Cross-country Prägraten

The cross-country selection in Virgen Valley can certainly show its face: Prägraten boasts over 25 km of tracks, Kals am Großglockner also has 30 km and Virgen offers another 21 km. A unique mountain and glacier landscape dominates the panorama, above all Großglockner (3,798 m) and Großvenediger (3,657 m). Cross-country skiing in front of such an imposing backdrop can only be enjoyed in Virgen Valley!

An especially comfortable entry into the exceptionally sunny tracks is found at Matrei. At the Matrei Tauernhaus at 1,500 m is one of the three most snow-sure high-altitude tracks, requiring good physical condition at approx. 11 km length. The high-altitude track through Maurer Valley near Prägraten is 9 km long, but also manageable for less experienced skiers. If you can make it that far in Virgen Valley, you can also enjoy an extra-special natural experience.

Particularly lovely for experienced cross-country skiers is the circuit on the high plateau from Kals am Großglockner to Großdorf to Taurer. Endurance is required on the skating track in Prägraten am Großvenediger. Cross-country fun under a starry sky can also be enjoyed on the 1.5 km long floodlit piste, also near Prägraten.

The cross-country trail network in Kals is labelled with a quality seal.
