Ried im Oberinntal is situated on an altitude of 876 m and is surrounded idyllically by the mountain of the Oetz Valley Alps and the Samnaun group. Easily accessible, the resort with its approx. 1,200 inhabitants is an ideal starting point for excursions to several ski areas as well as Innsbruck, the capital of the federal state of Tyrol. Ried and its surroundings offer numerous leisure time activities, such as snow shoe hiking, tobogganing, ice skating, curling, Nordic skiing, ice hiking and paragliding. For a cultural aspect, Ried offers Siegmundsried castle as well as multiple chapels and churches, such as e.g. the very beautiful baroque parish church St. Leonhard. Since the resort is only a stone's throw away from the access to Kauner valley, everybody looking for relaxation should pay a visit to Kaunertal Center. The wonderful spa- and leisure time area with pool, sauna, steam bath and restaurants is located in Feichten, approx. 15 km from Ried.
