St. Leonhard
St. Leonhard lies in the heart of the Pitz Valley and comprises besides the main town also numerous communities in the Inner Pitz Valley. The impressive panorama of the surrounding 3,000 m mountains, e.g. the Luibiskogel (3,112 m) or the Rofelewand (3,354 m) or also the Windspitze (3,770 m), dominate the high alpine landscape. No matter whether skier, snowboarder, hiker or just nature lover - this area offers something for everyone! Numerous cross-country ski trails weave through the valley and the wonderful landscape can be admired while on a snowshoe hike. The various small villages provide a friendly and familiar ambience which makes everybody feel comfortable. Once an isolated tributary valley of the Inn Valley, the Pitz Valley has developed into one of the most important ski regions in Tyrol. Framed by the imposing 3,000 m mountains of the Oetztal Alps, the interior Pitz Valley is very much high alpine. A mellow landscape towered over by smooth mountains forms the valley's entrance; the Pitztal Glacier (3,400 m), which is second in Tyrol only to the Wildspitze (3,768 m), is found in the top of the valley.
