Ski area Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch

With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 542 kilometres of piste in the Zillertal Arena, by the Mayrhofen lifts, in the Ski and Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, the ski area Hochzillertal – Hochfügen – Spieljoch, and the Wildkogel-Arena at Bramberg. The ski areas are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle (see ski region). Since a few years, the Zillertal Arena offers free-of-charge Wi-Fi in all of its ski areas! In other words, not only can you enjoy the white bliss and the sun, but also share your latest experiences and highlights directly with your loved ones at home.

Two ski areas are located in close proximity: the Spieljoch at Fügen and the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal ski areas. The connection of the two ski areas combines the once separate area, forming one area with approx. 89 kilometres of piste (incl. ski routes) and 36 lifts between 600 m - 2,360 m. This guarantees pampered winter sports fans snow until the end of April.

The Upper Zillertal is especially great for skiers looking for an area that is suitable for all skill levels. From leisurely valley runs to first-class free ride areas to snow parks, you can find everything here!

The Spieljoch ski area offers approx. 17 km of excellently prepared piste, 7 lifts and a magic carpet conveyor lift for the first ski steps in the snow. The 7 km long valley run to Fügen will thrill pleasure skiers. Here the emphasis is on family-friendly and child-friendly, and the pistes are optimal for those looking for security and relaxing skiing, instead of the absolute "ski high life".

Starting from December 2018, a new 10-person gondola will replace the old Krössbichl 4-person chair lift in the Hochzillertal area. The new mountain station is also home to the new, exclusive Italian restaurant "Albergo" and is located about 180 m higher, where more runs can be found. As a foretaste of the peak-to-peak ski area connection from Hochzillertal-Hochfügen to Spieljoch, an hourly ski bus connection has already been set up between the Spieljoch valley station in Fügen and Kaltenbach in Hochzillertal.

Night skiing Strass

Many ski areas in Austria offer the popular night skiing, so night ski piste are also part of the many pistes in Zillertal. Hochfügen-Hochzillertal awaits with 2 pistes for skiing until night time: In Kaltenbach, the popular piste "Stephan-Eberharter-Goldpiste" is illuminated once per week. The 5 km valley run is equipped with floodlights from the Hochzillertal gondola's middle station down to the valley station and can be covered with artificial snow. From January until mid-March the red piste is open in the extended operation hours until 22:00. From Schlitters, the free ski bus takes you to the access of the night ski area.

If just night skiing is not enough for you, you can look forward to nightly events in Hochfügen. At the Lamark lifts, the blue pistes are illumanted, and several times within the season, nigthly ski shows are presented. Accompanied by light effects and fireworks, the local ski instructors show fascinating acrobatics on skis.

Après ski Strass

Compared with other moderate resorts in Zillertal, the neighbouring resort Fügen in Zillertal is "the place to be". Lodges invite skiers in for refreshment, e.g. the cosy "Schihütte" at the Spieljoch valley run. Once in the valley, apres ski really gets started. Whether under an umbrella or in the bars, visitors party, dance and flirt until they drop. Later on the party moves into the clubs and discos.

A culinary highlight of the ski area Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal are the crystal huts, which can be found in the mountain station Kristall-Express at an altitude of 2,150 m and offers you young, creative cuisine at attractive prices. Fresh, regional products are served. In the inner huts, you can find an open fireplace as well as quaint parlours, and nice weather providing, a bar-adjacent sun terrace with lounge chairs and water beds can be enjoyed. In addition, since the winter season 2013/2014, a wine cellar has been added.

If you don't want to get off your boards in the evening, simply head to the lit pistes for some night skiing! You'd rather have a more relaxed evening? No problem! The hotel bars and other various guest houses in Strass are happy to serve you.

Snowpark: Snowpark Betterpark Strass

The "Betterpark" in the Hochzilltertal is located in close proximity at the "Schnee Express" 8-person chairlift at an altitude between 2,050 - 2,120 m in the ski area Hochzillertal - Kaltenbach.

The park-own lift takes you comfortably and directly to the top, so that you can move over to the next ride. 3 lines with different levels of difficulty can be found in the park, where beginners, intermediates and pros can test their talent on kickers and other things. Another delicacy is the jib line that awaits you with various boxes. A further highlight is the XL kicker that promises a great show, if watching from the chairlift and the 100 m long super pipe that is located slightly underneath the park at an altitude of 1,950 m.

The chill area with container, sun bed and the perfect sound system invites you after a long freestyle day or when taking a break. In the entire Zillertal there are a number of further snow parks to burn off steam, e.g. in Mayrhofen, Gerlos or at the Hintertuxer Glacier.
