Since December 2017 marks the premier of the new top-modern Zugspitze cabin lift, which leads up to Germany's highest peak. Two huge cabins with see-through floors will are able to transport up to 580 persons an hour, without waiting-time. Skiers can enjoy a unique panoramic view over the picturesque Eibsee lake, the Waxensteine mountains and the surrounding alpine peaks.
Families and beginners value the large selection of easy and intermediate pistes in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, but experts will also find what they need: the legendary canon run "Grubigstein" or the deep snow run "Steilhang Marienberg" offer pure adrenaline rushes. Diverse runs for all skill levels can be found for both skiers and boarders in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The more mellow Mittenwald is known as a Mecca for deep snow fans. In Dammkar, free riders can hit the non-prepared yet secure runs with differences in altitude of over 1,300 m!
The region is also known for events such as the FIS World Cup, the annual New Year's ski jumping of the Four Hills Tournament or as host of the Ski World Championship!
