In Oberstdorf you are literally following the tracks of world champions! Three times already was this Allgäu spa resort host to the Nordic Ski World Championships. In 2016, the FIS concluded that again in 2021 the Nordic Ski World Championship will take place in Oberstdorf. Hence, the ski resort lives up to its reputation as premium cross-country ski centre. Sunny trails in the valley basin comprise an extensive network of 75 km of classic trails, of which 55 km are also suitable for skaters. Almost all 10 trails are interconnected and venture into side valleys and connect the individual resort parts. Further, there is the world championship stadium which is open to use, offering well-kept grounds with snow-canons for topping up on the snow levels. Together with the 50 km of trails in the Kleinwalsertal on the Austrian side of the border, this 2-country cross-country region is a real pearl of Nordic sports.
