Ski area Inselsberg
On the Großer Inselsberg (915 m), right on the edge of the village, there is a small family ski area with 2.2 km of slopes, which is ideal for beginners and those returning to skiing. The Schenkenwiese valley station is located on the northern slope of the mountain, close to the car park. The T-bar lift takes you to the highest point of the slopes at 900 metres, from where you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Thuringian Forest. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Brocken. There are blue, red and black sections on the Inselsberg, making it possible for everyone to enjoy an appealing descent. There is also a ski school and ski hire centre here. The pistes can be artificially snowed so that nothing stands in the way of skiing fun all winter long. There is also a child-friendly toboggan run for families on the Kleiner Inselsberg.
