Alagna Valsesia
The wildly romantic Alp Valley Valsesia meanders its way through the lowlands of the Piemont region up to the Swiss border and the mighty Dufour peak (4,634 m). The river Sesia flows through the valley, giving the region its name. At the end of the valley, the mountain village Alagna can be found on 1,205 m altitude, separated from Switzerland and the resort Zermatt only by a mighty Alp massive.Alagna has this special charm of the Pennine Alps mountain village with its several old churches and chapels. Near Alagne, on the Southern side of the Monterosa massif, lies the ski area of the same name, which is mostly known because of its large freeride area. Ambitious skiers will find Alagna to be the perfect place for mountain climbing, freeriding and heli-skiing tours.
Monterosa
The border region between Switzerland and Italy is home to the mighty Monterosa mountain massif with its highest peak (on the Swiss side) reaching over 4,600 m. The ski area Monterosa comes up to 3,260 m and offers ski sports fans a total of 132 km of piste and 26 lifts. The region is known for its marvellous off-piste terrain, attracting fans of ski tours, freeriding and heli-skiing. Especially experts have a huge choice of options here.
