Ski vacations Velturno – On the sun terrace of Eisack Valley!

Velturno

8 km South of Bressanone, located on a sunny mountain street of the Eisacktal, or Eisack Valley/Val d'Isarco, lies the little place Velturno (German: "Feldthurns"). As early as the Middle Ages was this highly appreciated place for the prince-bishops to retreat due to its attractive quietness and its sunny position on the slopes, where they built the Renaissance style Castle Velthurns. Today, exciting guided tours through the castle invite visitors for an excursion. Velturno's town centre is dotted with quaint farmer's houses and features the Gothic style church St. Laurentius. The inhabitants of this village are very traditional and thus stick to old customs such as "Törggelen", whose culinary delights can be tasted as early as the late autumn, as the successful grape harvest is celebrated with a delicious dish with young wine, roasted chestnuts and partly also hearty meals.

Active winter sports fans have a wide range of activities available with access to the ski area Plose in close-by St. Andrä or several hiking trails all around Velturno. Whether you are looking for delights for your palate, body or soul, the sunny Velturno offers all-round relaxation for young and old.

Valle Isarco

Valle Isarco lies in the heart of South Tyrol and stretches from the Brenner to the Etsch estuary at Bozen. Dominated by the river Eisack, the valley boasts an impressive diversity of landscape at every time of the year. In the winter 95 km of pistes with varied difficulties invite skiers to the slopes. Whether beginner or expert - there is something for everyone. Due to its special location, the region is known to be very sunny and also snow-sure. Also away from the pistes there are many possibilities to spend an exciting day.
