Ski area Via Lattea
The extensive offer of pistes are designed for all levels of expertise, which means that you'll be able to find not only children's areas with flat practice & blue pistes, but also speedy red and challenging black pistes as well. Above Sestriere, the lifts make their way to the highest part of the ski area, on the Monte Motta (2,823 m). Here you'll also find many demanding runs and ski routes. Furthermore, you'll also be provided with a great view of the upper valley. In the lower parts of the ski area, you'll discover natural beauty in the form of forest runs surrounded by larch and pine trees.
When taking the gondola, you can head from Sestriere over to Mount Fraiteve (2,701 m), where the longest run of the ski area heads down over 7 km distance to the "Pariol" middle station. In the snow parks of Sestriere and Montgenèvre, as well as in the "Double Black Park" on the Rio Nero near Sauze d'Oulx, snowboarders can test themselves on the quarter pipe, rails and kickers, and half pipes. In this diverse ski area, spread out over several mountaintops, every winter sports fan will surely be able to find their favourite piste.
Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy
To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.Night skiing Sestriere (Via Lattea)
All skiers for whom the regular lifts' opening hours are not enough can look forward to night skiing in the Italian ski area Via Lattea. The Giovanni Alberti Agnelli -piste nearby Sestriere is illuminated by floodlight on a regular basis. Extend you skiing day until night-time and enjoy night skiing under starry sky and in the moonlight. On the night skiing piste you even follow the footsteps of champions: several championships and contests, such as e.g. the Ski World Championship, have taken place on the same piste that is used for night skiing.Après ski Sestriere (Via Lattea)
Also recommended is the après ski in the neighbouring resorts of Via Lattea: The "El Rouet" in Cesana, with over 1,000 beers from around the world!
Snowpark: Siestre Snow Park Sestriere (Via Lattea)
In a ski area as large as Via Lattea there is no shortage of expansive fun areas. The ski area offers a total of three snowparks, one of each can be found in Sestière, Sauze d'Ouly and Sansicario. Directly at the edge of Sestiere you can find the funpark of the same name, which comprises various rails and kickers. Beginners can try out easier obstacles in their own area.
The "Double Black Park" is located at the Nuovo Basses chair lift above Sauze d'Oulx. This gem of shaping skills was created for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games and is still popular in the boarder and freestyle scene nowadays. The area is a terrain park that has a quarter pipe as well as rails and kickers.
Last but not least the Funpark Sansicario on an altitude of 1,700 m is a great area for jibbing and jumping. On the French side nearby Mongenève, ambitious borders can let off steam on two bordercross trails.
