Tatranská Lomnica
The tourist centre of the High Tatra lies at the foot of the mountain massive Lomnický Štítam at an altitude of 850 m. The headquarters of the Tatra National Park is located in Tatranská Lomnica, which was appointed a biosphere reserve by the UNESCO in 1992, together with the National Park of the Polish neighbour. In the national park's museum, visitors can get to know the nature, its protection and the history of the national park. Further, Tatranská Lomnica offers the perfect entrance into the ski area: The gondola lift takes you to Skalnaté Pleso on the Lomnický štít (Lomnický Peak, 2,632 m), the second highest peak of the High Tatra.High Tatras
The High Tatras is the oldest holiday region in Slovakia and is located in the northern part of the country, on the border with Poland. It is the highest mountain chain in Slovakia with a total of 25 peaks over 2,600 m and, with respect to its, dimensions, the smallest mountain chain in Europe. The peak of the pyramid form Lomnický štít, the second highest mountain in High Tatras (at 2,634 m in height) offers a special overview of the wonderful high mountain landscape. In Slovakia’s oldest national park there are 15 small communities with a total of seven ski centres.
