Ski vacations Idre Fjäll – ski holidays in unique surroundings!

Idre Fjäll

From the peak of the Gränjesvålen you can let your sight swipe over vast, snowy plains, thick forests, right up to distant mountains of Norway, far away at the horizon. From the peak of this mountain in Idre Fjäll, Sweden's largest ski resort, you can descend back to the valley in all 4 directions. This picturesque resort may be a post card motive. The historic province Dalarna, located approx. 30 km from the border to Norway, leaves no expectations or wishes unfulfilled: you will find the typical red wooden houses and the thickly forested areas. Idre Fjäll is a popular destination both in summer and winter, mostly for activity seekers, and not only due to the beautiful, surrounding landscape. There are numerous possibilities to send your time here: enjoy excursions into nature - on skis or on snowshoes, with a dog sledge or on a snow mobile. Indulge into the culture of the Sami people - e.g. by visiting a typical "Kote", the traditional accommodation of the local people. And treat yourself to the local specialities of the area.

Dalarnas Iän

The historic province Dalarna is located in Central Sweden and borders with Norway and the Swedish mountains in the West. Dalarna comprises the political provinces Dalarnas Iän, Gävleborgs län, Jämtlands län and Värmlands län,of which Dalarnas län is the largest. This region is known as one of the most traditional in Sweden. Local traditions weigh heavy here, e.g. whereby the characteristic dress is still worn on special events. The Dala horse, a small wooden carved horse, is one of the most popular souvenirs from Sweden and derives from Dalarna. Red wooden houses, glistening lakes, deep woods and hilly landscapes form these wonderful surroundings. Nature and culture fans, as well as activity travellers, will love this area. The West, for instance, is dominates by the "Fjälls" (mountains above the boreal tree line) and is home to some of the most popular winter sports centres in Sweden.
