Nestled in the snow-covered mountain scenery, Sarnen is situated at 473 m on the Sarnen Lake. The main resort of the Swiss canton Obwalden, with its numerous ski areas such as Melchsee-Frutt, Engelberg or Meiringen-Hasliberg, is an ideal starting point for winter sports fans. The well maintained, historical 18th century houses in the historical city centre contribute to the resort's traditional and cosy atmosphere. Sarnen has a small-town character due to diverse shops, a large selection of restaurants and bars and numerous sports possibilities. It offers the perfect entry into the ski area with the gondola.Melchtal
