Ski vacations Altaussee - what a pleasure!
Altaussee
Altaussee (approx. 1,800 inhabitants) is an idyllic climatic health resort at the shore of the lake of the same name, on an altitude of 727 m. A first settlement as well as salt mining were first mentioned in a document in 1147. The wonderful location of the resort has enticed visitors and well-known authors since the 19th century. The salt mine, which is still in operation today, was used as storage for stolen art treasures during the 2. World War. The so called "Salzwelten" are definitely worth a visit. Ausseerland offers an abundance of sports- and leisure time activities. One of the highlights are activities on and around the frozen lake, such as ice skating, curling, snow shoe hikes and winter horseback riding, which are the best way to enjoy the wintry atmosphere. If you want to try out the regional culinary delicacies you will find a broad selection of restaurants, from simple snack stations to gourmet restaurants.Styrian Salzkammergut
The Styrian Salzkammergut - comprising the Ausseerland and Hinterberg Valley - is a region with upholds lots of charm and tradition. Folk music, dance and costume play a large role here. Many resorts in this area can still proudly present hand-made crafts, such as textile printing, custom tailoring, leather trouser crafting and hat crafting. The beautiful and diverse landscape with various valleys, the Traun river bed, many lakes and mountain peaks - such as the dominant Dachstein massif and the Totes Gebirge (dead mountains) - make this a unique place to visit.Travel Altaussee
