Ski vacations Bad Gastein - very special winter holidays!
Bad Gastein
The charming resort of Bad Gastein is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, at an altitude of 1,002 m in the heart of Salzburger Land. The landmark of the spa and winter sports resort is the "Gastein Waterfall", which has inspired many painters and poets with its impressive drop of approx. 200 m and is a popular attraction for ice climbers in winter. Along the steep alleys on the mountainside, numerous grand hotels from the time of the imperial monarchy as well as beautiful buildings from the Belle Époque characterise the townscape. In the meantime, many design and boutique hotels have also settled in Bad Gastein, attracting a young and hip audience with the urban flair of the place. Winter dreams also come true in Bad Gastein: the wide range of sports and leisure activities combined with numerous spa and wellness offers guarantee you a very special kind of holiday. The Alpine World Ski Championships were held on the Graukogel ski mountain as early as 1958. Those who want to spend their time outside the first-class ski area can also go shopping in the numerous boutiques and shops. Also worth mentioning is the glass connecting tunnel, which not only takes you directly from the valley station of the mountain railway to the futuristic-looking Felsentherme complex, but also directly to the town's railway station. So whether you are a skier, snowboarder, cross-country skier or simply looking for relaxation, everyone will find what they are looking for in this special place!
Bad Gastein - skiing joy for all!
Be it families, couples or individual travellers, Bad Gastein offers the perfect ski holiday for every holidaymaker. Between the imposing Belle Époque buildings, open studios, creative workshops and jazz events provide the contemporary flair and pure euphoria among modern culture enthusiasts. Families will also find this place to be a paradise for ski holidays regardless of whether they are experienced skiers or the just starting out the little ones. With a large, varied ski area with pistes that often end in close proximity to the accommodation due to numerous local mountains, the area scores with both wide, sunny runs and crisp, steep slopes. Bad Gastein also offers a vibrant nightlife after skiing with many hip pubs and bars. In the "Silver Bullet" or in "Haeggbloms", there is a plenty of partying, cocktails and good vibes.
Family ski holidays easily become a little adventurous here: for the little ones trying skiing for the first time, there is a great practice area, as well as ski schools with ski instructors who look after the children with great dedication, making it easier for them to get started. Of course, childcare in the ski area is not to be missed here, either. Around a playground, "magic carpet" and children's lifts, there is always an eye on the little ones, so that parents can enjoy the area's medium to difficult pistes. Dog sledding, a toboggan run and a swimming pool in the village round off the ideal family ski holiday.
After a day on the mountain, spa-lovers can then immerse themselves in the hot springs of the Felsentherme while breathing in the clear mountain air and enjoying the view of the mountain massif. The Gastein thermal water rises in the centre of Bad Gastein and is enriched with valuable minerals and radon.
