Ski area Hochlitten - Riefensberg
Around Riefensberg numerous small ski areas can be found, they are especially suitable for families and beginners. The areas are not as crowded and therefore offer optimal conditions to learn the first turns. The Alpenarena Hochhäderich is only approx. 10 km away from Riefensberg. This ski area lies at an altitude between 1,250 and 1,600 m, comprises 10.5 km of pistes, which can be accessed with 6 lifts and is usually open from mid-December to the end of March. On the 3.5 kilometers of blue piste beginners can become acquainted with the winter sport, while experienced skiers and snowboarders can go wild on the 5 red and 2 black kilometers of piste. The Ski-Arena Steibis is also definitely worth a visit. This ski area is located in Germany and only 20 minutes by car from Riefensberg. It is considered one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in Germany and is especially popular among beginners and families, who can go wild on almost 18 kilometres of piste.
The house ski area of Riefensberg is in Hochlitten, a small village, 2 km away from the village centre. Skiers and snowboarders will find three tow lifts and a practice lift in the compact ski area with 3 kilometres of pistes. Furthermore, despite its small size, Hochlitten-Riefensberg is considered the top venue for ski races in the region, so that regular amateur races provide good sporting entertainment. The ski area is usually open on weekends from November and daily from mid-December to early January. In the off-season you have the possibility to explore the pistes in the afternoon, but snow lovers should get information about the current opening hours before an excursion to the ski area.
Skiers and snowboarders who prefer the larger ski areas have the possibility to explore about 80 km of pistes and 18 ski routes in the Damüls-Mellau ski area. The ski area is approx. 50 km away from Riefensberg and can be reached by car in less than an hour. The ski area impresses with a large variety of very wide pistes, which are especially suitable for beginners and families. A highlight is the 7 km long valley run with a height difference of 900 m. The steep slopes Sunnegg and Suttis are suitable for the adrenalin junkies. Each is one kilometre long and are the most difficult downhill runs in the ski area.
Night skiing Hochlitten - Riefensberg
In the Holchlitten Riefensberg and Hochhäderich ski areas no night skiing is offered. Though, snow lovers who, however, do not want to miss out on the evening fun on the pistes, will find what they are looking for in the Faschina-Fontanella ski area. The ski area is approx. 50 km away from Riefensberg and can be easily reached by car in one hour. Once a week the Guggernülli tow lift stays open until 21:00 with a floodlit piste. Riefensberg and the surrounding region also offer a wide range of winter activities. There are numerous hiking trails which provide a very special nature experience, especially in the white season. Cross-country skiing lovers can also explore nature on skis. The Hochlitten-Moosalpe toboggan run is a popular route that provides a lot of fun for the whole family. The ascent begins in Hochlitten, only two km away. The trail is 1,360 m long and overcomes 315 metres in altitude.
For party lovers, there are numerous après ski bars in the valley of the Steibis ski area which invite to celebrate. The "Schatzi-Bar" is particularly recommendable here. If you prefer a more cosy atmosphere, you can end your skiing day in the rustic mountain huts and sun terraces with a hearty portion of Kässpatzen (cheese noodles) and enjoy the fantastic view. There are many other attractions in the village itself, such as the Aquaria adventure pool or various shopping facilities.
Snowpark Hochlitten - Riefensberg: Snowpark Steibis
There is no snowpark in the house ski area of Riefensberg itself. Snow lovers, who don't want trso miss obstacles and kicke, should visit the Steibis Snowpark in the Ski-Arena Steibis, which is approx. 15 km from Riefensberg. The snowpark is situated next to the Hohenegg lift in a sunny location and impresses with numerous rails and boxes. Experienced freestylers can go wild on various rails on the demanding Main Line, while beginners can get to know the art of sliding on the Easy Line. If there is enough snow, a kicker line will also be set up. Air acrobats can present their latest tricks here. At the park base Bärenstadl you can relax afterwards with relaxed music in the deckchairs.
