Ski area Hochficht

Only about 20 km away, you will find even more variety with the Hochficht skiing area and its 20 kilometres of slopes. 6 lifts, 2 magic carpets, a floodlit piste and 100% snow-making facilities ensure plenty of skiing fun here. The idyllic and family-friendly ski area is located in the middle of the border triangle and is accessible from both valley stations Klaffer and Schwarzenberg. It is not only the popular snow park that makes hearts beat faster here, because the Kids Park also has a lot to offer the smallest winter sports enthusiasts!

Après ski Sonnen

In addition to exploring the various small ski resort gems in the Bavarian Forest, there are many other ways to spend your leisure time. If the temperatures drop sufficiently, the surrounding lakes turn into huge open-air ice rinks. If the ice layer on Lake Freudensee and Co. is not thick enough for ice sports enthusiasts, the ice rink in nearby Waldkirchen offers a high-quality alternative.

There are also plenty of excursion destinations around Sonnen. For example, walk in the footsteps of the valuable granite. The extremely hard rock is omnipresent in the Wegscheider Land. A special hiking trail is dedicated to the sought-after rock and leads you on the tracks of different granite forms. On the 20 km long route between Hauzenberg and Sonnen, there are quarries as well as entire houses, chapels and churches made of the grey stone to discover.

If you are prepared to drive a little further (40 minutes), you can go on a wintery discovery tour in the outdoor animal enclosure in Neuschönau. Especially for children, observing wolves, lynx, bears and wild boars is a natural highlight.

Snowpark: Snowpark Boardercross Hochficht Sonnen

In the Bavarian Forest, for those of you who love risk, wishes are guaranteed to come true! The Hauzenberg-Geiersberg ski area and the neighbouring Hochficht area offer the chance to take a special dare in the air with two different attractions. Starting with an innovation from Switzerland, the "Airboard", you have the chance to get really high up in a rather small ski area. Belly down and head first, you lie on an air cushion that allows safe control thanks to its ribbed profile on the bottom of the device. Soft materials cushion jumps and accidents and significantly reduce the risk of injury. Those who want to challenge the special adrenaline kick can also take their new vehicle to hard slopes and deep snow areas, where they are guaranteed to experience an unforgettable adventure.

You prefer to rely on your own legs and thus maintain control over your own boards? Then the boarder and skicross track in Hochficht is perfect for you! At 1,300 m above sea level and close to the Hochficht peak, a wide variety of jumps are waiting to be discovered and offer you a spectacular high-altitude panorama!
