Ski area Rittner Horn

Families and sun worshippers will like the small but lovely ski area Rittner Horn (1,538 - 2,260 m). It lies on a sun plateau and the 14 km of wide piste are perfectly suitable for beginners and intermediates. The most beautiful view can be enjoyed from the 2,060 m high Schwarzsee Spitze. The many quaint huts with their fantastic sun terraces and friendly landlors round the experience off.

Around Bolzano, you will find 12 ski areas that form part of the "Dolomiti Superski" union, providing for some variety (see ski region) - with an incredible total of 1,200 piste kilometres and 450 lifts.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Bolzano

After an active day on the pistes, you can regain your energy in one of the comfy cafés and restaurants in Bolzano. Enjoy a cappuccino in the sun in the "Bozner Lauben", the old town's shopping street and enjoy the hustle and bustle. Several sun terraces and huts at the Rittner Horn invite to do that, filling up quickly in the afternoons. Fans of some classic après ski will find enjoyment in some of the bigger ski resorts in the Dolomites. E.g. the Olympic resort of 1956, Cortina, d'Ampezzo, is known for its large après ski offer - among others you have the Scoiattoli huts in the ski area with fantastic view on the surround peaks. A little more sophisticated, but still just as charming is Madonna di Campiglio, where several bars and cafés invite for après ski in town, where a chat can be had with the ski instructors.

But next to the strolls and the culinary quality, Bolzano also features some cultural leisure activities: there is a series of museum, such as the archaeological or the natural museum and several castles in the surrounding areas. In the Castle Sigmundskron you will find the Messner Mountain Museum.

Snowpark: Snowpark Freestyle Park Bolzano

Snowboarders will find some suitable grounds at the Rittner Horn, too. The small Freestyle Park at the middle station offers diverse rails, boxes and kickers for everyone to practice.
