Ski vacations St. Magdalena - Dreamy village in the Gsies Valley
St. Magdalena
Surrounded by the foothills of the Rieserferner Group and the Defregger Alps is St. Magdalena - a small Italian village at the head of the Gsies Valley. One of the landmarks of the idyllic village is the traditional parish church of St. Magdalena. Surrounded by the unique landscape, it is undoubtedly one of the most popular photo motifs in the Dolomites. Moreover, St. Magdalena is the ideal starting point for winter sports of all kinds: skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking, tobogganing and much more. Beginners and advanced skiers alike will enjoy the sunny and varied pistes of the nearby "Plan de Corones" ski area. After a long day on the piste, rustic huts invite you to enjoy cosy refreshments and South Tyrolean specialities.
Plan de Corones
At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 121 kilometres of piste, approx. 31 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski area is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld".Travel St. Magdalena
