Tyrol - "Cross-country-trail Quality Seal of Tyrol"

In the federal state of Tyrol, the state government already introduced the "Loipengütesiegel des Landes Tirol" (Cross-country-trail Quality Seal of Tyrol) back in 1981. To be awarded this seal, the operators of a cross-country network have to fulfil a minimum amount of certain criteria, and some special criteria e.g. that it has to be a "closed cross-country network", whereby the majority of the trails have to be located in Tyrol.

If the seal can be awarded in accordance to the criteria, the network will hold this for a duration of 3 years. Upon sending a written application it may be extended by a further 3 years.

Should the network fail to meet the criteria in a running period, the seal may also be revoked. How long a network is able to hold the seal, is actually shown in the emblem itself. However, there is no legal claim to being awarded this Quality Seal.

Which criteria have to be fulfilled to be awarded the seal?

Number of trails: The cross-country network has to include at least 3 trails with the following lengths:
- one 10 km trail (difficulty blue or red)
- one 5 km trail (difficulty blue or red)
- one training track for beginners (at least 500 m long) in a respectively easy ski terrain
The trails have to be independent from each other and have to be prepared with double tracks. Only over short stretches may the trials run parallel to each other.
Snow conditions: at least 80 days of snow (days with snowcover of approx. 10 cm) during one winter (indicators are based on statistics by the central institute of meteorology and geodynamics, regional institute of Tyrol, Innsbruck, established over a 30- year period)
Guaranteed usage of trails for at least 3 years - this has to be contractually secured with the landlord
Parking facilities in close vicinity to the start and end points have to be given
Start and end point areas have to be sign-posted
